Is 143 days enough?

Anyone regardless of political affiliation has to honestly ask the question: Does Sen. Obama have enough experience to be the President of the United States?

Sen. Obama's campaign started with a fervor rarely seen with lots of fanfare and he was often treated like rock star, when delivering speeches and going to stump locations. Sen. Obama is now having to deliver speeches and visit locations that aren't necessarily sympathetic to his views. He has recently "flip-flopped" on a number of issues and even suggested that we should not worry about people not learning English and that we should teach our kids Spanish. Comments and double takes like these and many others cause the questions to be asked: Does this man have the experience to be the Commander & Chief? I don't believe he does, based on his lack of time in congress and government overall.

The fact is, the Senator had only 143 days in congress previous to the beginning of his presidential bid. It takes longer than that to fully complete the training to be a emergency services dispatcher.

"From the time Barrack Obama was sworn in as a United States Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. That's how many days the Senate was actually in session and working. After 143 days of work experience, Obama now believes he is ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World, and fill the shoes of Abraham Lincoln, FDR, JFK and Ronald Reagan. 143 days. I keep leftovers in my refrigerator longer than that."

This is from Columnist Cheri Jacobus whose credits and regular media appearances are too numerous to list. I think that Ms. Jacobus has hit the nail on the head with this column. It's time for America to realize that is about the future of our nation, it's not black thing or partisan thing, it's simply a question of whether or not Sen. Obama has the base line credentials to serve in our nations highest office?

I'm not writing this post, because I'm enamored with Sen. McCain, because I assure you he was not my first choice, however there are certain realities that must be considered on this matter.

Lets ask a few questions:

Would a prominent law firm hire a lawyer who had only practiced law for 143 days?

Would a renowned restaurant hire an executive chef who has only been in culinary arts for 143 days?

Would a city (of any size) hire a police chief who had only been a law enforcement officer for 143 days?

Would a hospital hire a chief of staff who has only practiced medicine for 143 days?

Would a Fortune 500 company promote person to CEO with only 143 days out of college?

Ask these questions of yourself and I think we'll all agree the answers are all NO.
